Stephen Kreuger was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan where his musical life began playing trombone in his elementary school band and taking piano lessons. In high school, he found that the bass was his true musical voice. At the time, this meant electric bass and he took every opportunity to play in cover bands, musicals, and many garage bands.

Stephen began formal study of the double bass at the University of Regina with Stephen McLellan. During his undergraduate degree he prepared a successful audition and performed for two seasons with the Regina Symphony Orchestra. Further studies brought him to Toronto to study with Paul Rogers at the University of Toronto, where he completed an Artist’s Diploma in 2007. Stephen is a past member of both the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and Boris Brott’s National Academy Orchestra and is grateful to have been mentored by many great teachers and conductors as well as share the stage with many wonderful musicians and soloists.

Stephen has appeared in recent seasons with the Georgetown Bach Chorale, Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, Calgary's Festival Choir, and the University of Saskatchewan's Amati String Quartet. He lives in Saskatoon and is currently in his third season with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra.
